Form Brick’s Role
For this project, Form Brick provided brick cutting services rather than brick inlay. We cut 400,000 bricks with precision and care, ensuring that the materials met the exact requirements.
A New Standard in Housing
Markham Avenue comprises 178 homes spread across five buildings, designed to be ‘tenure blind’ — indistinguishable between public and affordable housing. The precinct is universally accessible, equitable, and socially sustainable, offering residents high-quality homes within a welcoming environment.
The façades feature natural brick in varying tones, complemented by metal detailing, creating a contemporary yet enduring architectural expression. Courtyards and communal outdoor spaces are integrated among mature trees, reinforcing the connection between residents and the surrounding landscape.
Sustainability and Community
- Brick cutting reduced waste and ensured efficient use of materials.
- The design retained many existing trees, enhancing biodiversity and natural amenity.
- The development complies with the Disability Discrimination Act, ensuring accessibility for all.
- The project strengthens community ties by integrating with nearby gardens, reserves, and Gardiners Creek.
Vision
To enable projects large and small the ability to utilize lightweight brick cladding with cut brick facings from any brick that is available on the market.
