Quest Collingwood

Quest Collingwood is a mixed-use development located in Melbourne’s inner-north. The project includes an 83-room Quest Apartment Hotel, additional office levels, a ground-floor café, and basement parking. The building is designed to support both short and extended stays and forms part of the ongoing commercial growth within the Collingwood precinct.

Brick Inlay & Facade System

Form Brick supplied its brick inlay system for the project façade. The system was used to integrate brickwork into prefabricated elements, allowing for controlled brick placement, consistent joint alignment, and improved quality control.

The use of the brick inlay system eliminated the need for on-site bricklaying and supported a more predictable construction programme. The brick facade system also provided consistency across the façade while meeting durability and maintenance requirements.

Custom formliners for the building’s columns allowed the upright brick formation to be accurately located to fit evenly within the column width. This created a durable façade with industrial character and consistent design.

Architectural Approach

The project was designed by CHT Architects, with the façade responding to the industrial character of the surrounding area. Brickwork was used alongside glazed elements to align with the local built context and functional requirements of a hotel and commercial building.

Form Brick’s systems supported the architectural documentation by providing clear detailing and repeatable façade components, assisting with coordination between design and construction teams.

Outcome

Quest Collingwood demonstrates the application of brick inlay systems in a hotel and commercial development. Through coordination with CHT Architects and the project team, Form Brick delivered a façade solution that met design intent, construction requirements, and long-term performance objectives.
