Form Brick’s Role
For this project, Form Brick provided specialist brick cutting services. Austral’s DRHawthorn Red bricks were cut into thin facings and carefully applied at street level, creating refined brick detailing around the columns and entryway.
This craftsmanship ensured a premium finish that harmonises with the building’s contemporary design while referencing South Yarra’s heritage character.
A New Standard in Commercial Space
151 Toorak Road is a six‑storey office building with a ground floor restaurant. The design employs a striking Flex Brick second‑skin façade over a carbon‑neutral brickwork base, inspired by the patterned brickwork of the 1890s South Yarra Post Office opposite. This innovative sun breaker reduces glare and heat load, while offering a dynamic architectural expression that responds to its local context.
Inside, brand‑new fit‑outs are walk‑in ready, featuring high‑quality finishes, spacious open‑plan layouts, and abundant natural light with sweeping views from the upper floors. Landscaped outdoor spaces, including a roof garden and terrace, provide green breakout areas for occupants.
Sustainability and Community
- The double‑skin façade supports passive climate control, fresh air, and natural ventilation.
- The building is gas‑free, with no reliance on fossil fuels.
- Brick cutting reduced waste and ensured efficient use of materials.
- The project strengthens South Yarra’s urban fabric, integrating seamlessly with nearby restaurants, cafés, and public transport connections.
Vision
To enable projects large and small to utilise lightweight brick cladding with cut brick facings from any brick available on the market, delivering enduring architecture that balances heritage inspiration with contemporary innovation.
