Form Brick’s Role
Lascelles Manor was the first major project delivered using Form Brick’s newly developed automated brick‑cutting equipment — designed and built in‑house at the Form Brick factory. This milestone marked a significant step forward for brick cutting in Melbourne, providing consistent, high‑precision brick facings for the façade.

The automated system ensured accuracy, reduced manual handling, and allowed the builder to work with brick facings that met exact architectural specifications.
Façade and Architectural Expression
The façade is constructed from Daniel Robertson Hawthorn Black, a brick known for its deep tone and textured finish.
To achieve the architectural detailing envisioned for Lascelles Manor, the project combined:
- Brick facings produced by Form Brick
- Hand‑laid bricks installed by the builder
- A hybrid method supported by Form Brick’s advanced brick-cutting equipment.
This approach enabled LU Simon to deliver intricate brickwork elements — including corners, reveals and decorative transitions — at less cost than constructing the entire façade with traditional bricklayers.
